NCTE-energy!
After returning from NCTE I’m ready to write!
Talking to some of the great poetry Friday people like Laura Purdie Salas and Irene Latham really inspired me to get moving on my novel. The encouragement I received was so moving that I felt like I could do anything. Thank you ladies!
On top of the encouragement was the proper boot to the seat of the pants delivered by Janet Wong at her awesome session about creating global connections. I felt like Janet gave me the boot to get moving, perhaps better described as the permission to not wait. To exit the waiting place (Oh the Places You’ll Go) and get querying.
Smashing these experiences together, Laura + Irene’s encouragement, Janet’s boot to get moving and some of the conversations I had in the exhibit hall and BOOM! I’m ready to conquer the world.
When I got home, I dove into my novel. Finished editing the first draft. Started writing the second draft (and got a good start). And now I’m debating a submission frenzy to get the short stories I’ve been working on out there more. I don’t feel like I’ve been dragging my feet but I do think I’ve been walking, not running. If I don’t start running, I’ll never get the speed to start flying so best get to it.
I met a bunch of great people at NCTE and want to share the blogs of a few of the people I met.
There were a bunch of other people too but I can’t list everyone. Thank you all for your support, encouragement and general kindness at NCTE! You all really inspired me to keep writing and make a splash.
Also, if I missed you at NCTE, here’s the bookmark I made for my current project (dis)Connection (previously known as Some Assembly Required). Enjoy the bookmark and check out my post about the Soundtrack that drove the writing of (dis)Connection.
