2022: Discover
*** Originally written in January but was tabled because of too many other things going on. Enjoy! ***
I don’t do New Years Resolutions, they never happen for me.
Instead, I pick a word that will be my Word of the Year. At the end of the year, I reflect on what word best represented the year and post again. Part of the fun is to see where the year starts and where the year ends. 2020 was a great example of massively different start and ending words (BAGGAGE at beginning of the year to GRATITUDE at the end).
For this year, I’m feeling like the keyword for me is DISCOVER.
Why Discover?
Last year was about trying things out. This year, I’m ready to explore and discover even more. My goals this year are around building more stories to share, growing my reach and exploring different ways to share those stories.
While a lot of people have asked me about being a “writer”, I prefer storyteller because I like to dabble in lots of different mediums. Yes, I like to write but I also like to build in VR, I like to draw, I like to build little worlds, I like to play Dungeons & Dragons. All this swirls into stories and I can’t wait to discover what stories these mediums lead me to.
*** UPDATE: Since I originally wrote this post, I’ve explored writing stories with Facebook Messenger. If you want to see what I’ve built, check it out on the portfolio site or experience it here. ***
What’s next?
My main focus to start the year is the completion of 2 novels-in-verse that I’m working on. I have a few other stories, novellas and possibly another collection of ghost stories that I’m working on. Enough to stay busy all 2022.
Keep up with what’s going on with my newsletter. I send it out maybe twice a month, more often as releases get close. I share stories, updates, and announcements there first so sign up to keep up.
